About Pet Life Saver in Jacksonville
My name is Michelle Patel. I am the owner and sole instructor for Pet Life Saver.
Dogs and cats have always held a special place in my heart. Many of my happiest memories include my pets. My inspiration for teaching the PetTech™ programs was my beloved cat Gobi, who tragically passed away suddenly when he was 10 months young.
I considered myself to be an above average pet parent. Gobi received all the recommended medical attention, ate only the best food, got plenty of exercise, certainly did not lack any love or affection, etc. One evening, I noticed Gobi laying in a strange position. I rushed over to him and knew instantly that something was seriously wrong. I panicked and did not have the first clue what to do. I ended up carrying Gobi’s unresponsive body in my arms while I scrambled to figure out where to go to get help; my vet was closed Easter Sunday at dinner time. By the time I got Gobi to the animal hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival. I grieved and continue to grieve the loss of Gobi as if I had lost a child. I did the best I knew how to do at the time, but I will always wonder if there was something I could have done to save him.
My purpose for teaching this course is to help pet owners focus in the case of an emergency and administer lifesaving techniques until veterinary care is available. I never want anyone to ever experience the helplessness and pain that I did. PetTech™ teaches pet parents and pet care professionals prevention techniques to lessen the chances of a pet emergency. We cannot prevent every possible scenario, so PetTech™ teaches the lifesaving skills every person who touches fur should know. Although I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Masters of Business Administration, my PetTech™ Instructor certificate holds the most purpose for my life. My mission in life is to uphold PetTech™’s motto of “Improving the Quality of Pets’ Lives, One Pet Parent at a Time.”
